Algeria will visit Cameroon at 7:00 p.m. today, Friday, in the match that will host the Jaboma Stadium, in the first leg of the African final of the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Algeria qualified after topping Group A in the qualifiers, beating Burkina Faso, Niger and Djibouti. Cameroon qualified at the top of Group D, which included Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique and Malawi.

Tonight’s game will be for the Cameroon national team under new coach Rigobert Song, who replaced Antonio Conceicao, who left after the last African Cup of Nations, in which the team finished third.

For their part, the ‘Greens’ enter the game to correct course, after the early exit of the African Nations Championship, where Jamal Belmadi seeks to take advantage of the experiences of his professional stars in the major European leagues, to achieve a positive result before face the second leg.

It should be noted that the second leg will bring together the two teams on March 29 at the “Mustafa Tchaker” stadium in Algeria.

“The confrontation between the two teams in itself is heavy and very important against a strong competitor,” Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi told the match’s press conference.

He added: “It is true that we failed two months ago, we marked our failure here, but the importance of today’s match does not make us think about where to play it.”

In response to Song’s comments, the Algerian coach said: “First you gave me the opportunity to greet Rigobert, and I also wish him success in his coaching career.”
