Microsoft OneDrive gives you the option to configure remote access during installation. If you skipped this point during installation, you can change this setting later. To do this, call the system tray icon in your computer’s taskbar. Right-click on the icon and select “Settings” from the context menu.

Then select “Use OneDrive to recover my files on this PC” under “General” in the “Settings” tab by checking the box. To confirm the change, click “OK”.
Important: For your device to remotely access another PC to work, it must be turned on and the desktop app must be enabled.
Start Remote Access over the Internet

To be able to start remote access, call OneDrive in the browser. In the upper right part, you will find the login option. To do this, click on “Connection”.

Then enter your email address and associated password. To do this, click on “Connection”.

After logging in with your user data, you can see on the left under “PCs” which computers are currently connected to OneDrive. Click on the computer you want to access.

You will then receive a message indicating that you must log in using a security code. Click on the “Log in with a security code” link. This helps ensure that unauthorized people cannot log into your desktop computer.

In the next step, you choose a way to get the code. To do this, you must leave an email or phone number in your OneDrive profile. If not, it makes more sense to store this data in your account settings before proceeding to the next step.

In our example, we are dialing the cell phone number and need to enter the last four digits of the number to confirm that it is our own cell phone number. Then you click “Next”.

You will then receive an SMS with a code on your mobile phone. Enter this code in the field provided. If you want to connect to this device more often in the future, you can check the box to skip entering the code in the future. Click “Submit” to confirm.

You will then see the favorites and system folders of the PC in the right area, which you can access.
