The Novaerus Defend 400 is a CE marked device that uses WellAir’s patented NanoStrike™ technology in combination with a three-stage filtration system to optimize indoor air quality.

DUBLIN-STAMFORD, Connecticut, March 22, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–WellAir, the leading healthcare technology company providing solutions for indoor air disinfection, today announced the European launch of its Novaerus Defend 400. Novaerus has been a global pioneer in the fight against healthcare infections airborne and surface-borne for more than 10 years. The air purification device is CE marked and is 99.9% effective in inactivating airborne pathogens such as proxy virus SARS-CoV-2 (bacteriophage MS2), MRSA, bacteria and fungi. In addition, it cleans the air of fine dust, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), gases and odours. With the launch, WellAir continues to break new ground for a healthy indoor climate at a time when air quality has never been more important than it is today.

Recent research results that Journal of Hospital Infection also demonstrate that Novaerus air disinfection devices with NanoStrike technology, a novel air disinfection process that rapidly disrupts and inactivates airborne pathogen cells to ensure they are no longer a source of infection, can help prevent hospital-acquired infections by reduce the microbial load in the air. The study is the first of its kind to examine portable air purification and disinfection devices in an intensive care unit.

“We are bringing the Defend 400 to the European market at a time when more and more people are realizing the role that indoor air quality plays in their health and well-being,” said Felipe Soberon, Scientific Director of WellAir. “Given that a significant part of this technology was developed in Dublin labs, it is very gratifying that after successful commercialization in the US, this technology is now available in Europe.”

Unlike other air purification technologies, NanoStrike’s high effectiveness comes from its ability to inactivate nanometer-scale pathogens on contact. The Defend 400’s four-stage pathogen inactivation and filtration process also uses medical-grade filters to capture bacterial debris, fine and large particles, volatile organic compounds, gases, odors, and contaminants.

“COVID-19 has brought increased attention to indoor air quality and the importance of a safer indoor environment by reducing the risk of exposure to airborne pathogens. That’s what the Defend 400 was designed to do,” said Todd M. Pope, President and CEO. from WellAir. “This wearable device is an extension of our product portfolio and offers powerful air purification in multiple device sizes.”

The Novaerus Defend 400 is ideal for healthcare settings, but can also be used effectively in a variety of indoor settings such as schools and offices. WellAir can be ordered through the worldwide network of Novaerus distributors. For more information, see https://www.novaerus.com/novaerus-defend-400.
