War refugees in a Polish village: the whole of Europe helps – politics

Helpers from Finland, Denmark, Ireland and Germany gather at the Dorohusk border crossing to help refugees from Ukraine. It is a place where the European idea is revived.

A family from Kiev now lives with Paula Tammi in Turku: a woman with two adult daughters and a young grandson. They spent a night and a day driving home from the Polish-Ukrainian border to Finland. “My husband wanted to go to war and fight the Russians,” says Paula in the Polish border town of Dorohusk. She didn’t want that at all. The commitment of the couple: to help.
