Tear gas attack, broken window and possible shooting: A group of 30 to 50 masked and partially armed suspects triggered a police operation outside a hairdresser’s in Berlin-Lichterfelde. Two youths were slightly injured in the incident Friday night, police said Saturday.

Some of the suspects are believed to have been carrying weapons and baseball bats. Witnesses reported shots fired. No shell casings or bullet holes were found, he said.

The incident is related to the clan environment, and possibly also to an important court case. As the “Berliner Morgenpost” reported, citing the police, the suspects are said to have connections with the Abou Chaker clan.

And the owner of the hairdressing business is not strange either: according to the report, it belongs to the Berlin rapper Samra, whose real name is Hussein Akkouche. Samra only testified earlier in the week as a witness in the trial against clan chief Arafat Abou-Chaker.

He has to answer to the Berlin district court with three brothers on suspicion of gross extortion, deprivation of liberty and dangerous bodily harm to the rapper Bushido. However, it was initially unclear whether Saturday’s incident was related to the process.

According to witnesses, one of the participants broke the window of the hairdresser’s shop on Osdorfer Strasse with an iron bar and tear-gassed two men as they were leaving the shop. Rescuers treated the two 23-year-olds with eye irritation at the scene.

According to police, several people involved fled when officers arrived. Police found a small amount of drugs in one of the remaining vehicles. Live ammunition and an irritant gas spray can were also found in the immediate vicinity of the store. (teaspoon, dpa)
