Union prepares warning strikes at community clinics
Hannover (dpa/lni) – The Marburger Bund doctors’ union is preparing warning strikes in Lower Saxony’s municipal hospitals for next Thursday. About 40 hospitals and several thousand doctors are affected. In order to guarantee the medical care of patients, emergency service agreements must be concluded with the individual hospitals as necessary, the Marburger Bund Lower Saxony announced on Wednesday in Hannover.
So far, the Association of Municipal Employers has not responded to the demands of the Marburg Federation. Doctors have complained about the high pressure due to overtime since the beginning of the corona pandemic. The union demands clear limits for services at night, on weekends and on public holidays, said Hans Martin Wollenberg, president of the Lower Saxony Marburg Association. Overtime must be recognized and compensated without exception. There is a risk that doctors are overloaded; Work shouldn’t make you sick.
