Anderson Cooper Interviews Ukrainian Fighter Pilot On Hold Between Attacks

On Monday at Anderson Cooper 360, Cooper interviewed Juice, a Ukrainian fighter pilot-in-waiting who was wearing his gear and going only by his call sign to protect his identity. Juice said that as Russia clings to air superiority at the moment, casualties are mounting. “The Russians have a lot of losses, losses, and they fear our air defense,” Juice said. “So they couldn’t fly here just comfortable for themselves.” The United States continues to supply Ukraine with multiple defense systems, but has halted the transfer of warplanes from Poland that would reach Ukraine only after passing through a US air base in Germany. Juice said that they need more planes if they want to take control of the skies. “We need efficient air defense systems on the ground,” Juice said, “and we need other fighter jets to gain air superiority to effectively fight these threats.” And Juice said he and others are ready to fight Russia’s continued war of aggression, but reiterated the need for more supplies. “We are all ready to fight, just with our planes, with our guns, even just in the fields with rifles,” Juice said. “So our people, including myself, are ready to fight the Russians, and we are ready to defend our country, to defend our people in absolutely any way. But we need tools, effective tools, to do this efficiently.”
