Now is not the time for fancy suits. Michailo Podoljak wears an olive green parka and films himself on a short walk through the city. Advisor to the President Volodymyr Zelenskiy walks past Wilhelminian-style house facades, wrought-iron balcony railings, and shuttered shops. There are no passersby to be seen, but two other men in olive green walking with him, holding paper cups and steaming coffee, trophies of small everyday joys. One of them is David Arakhmiya, faction leader of the ruling Servants of the People party, the other is Kirill Tymoshenko, deputy head of the presidency. In fact, they went out for coffee. To create a second impression of normalcy, to infect the population with confidence before the next siren sounds. Then Podoliak walks, smiles and says: “kyiv is always beautiful. Even in times of war.”
