During a protest against rising energy prices, several truck convoys had been heading north from the Berliner Ring since Wednesday morning. Rbb reported that around 500 truckers want to participate in the protest. The traffic information center (VIZ) announced “restrictions for the entire Berlin city area due to slow trucks.”
Around 8 am, according to the VIZ, around 70 trucks left Brandenburg for Berlin. As reported by the North Police Department in Neuruppin, a group of 15 to 20 vehicles was traveling from the Falkensee connection in the direction of the Havelland triangle.
Other convoys approached the motorway from the A24 from Hamburg and from federal highway 96. Initially there was no action in Berlin.
According to a report by “Tagesschau” and WDR, the truckers wanted to block the ring road from 7 in the morning to protest against the record prices of gasoline and diesel. The drivers also want to block the roads in NRW and thus trigger traffic chaos. (dpa)
