Truck collides with car: 89-year-old driver dies

Hanover (dpa / lni) – A transporter for the disabled rammed the car of an 89-year-old man in Langenhagen near Hanover, who later died in hospital. The older man had stopped his car with its hazard lights on Thursday afternoon, police said late at night. As he started to turn, the 63-year-old driver of the truck collided head-on with the car that was stopped across the street.
The 89-year-old man was resuscitated at the scene and later taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van and two of the six occupants suffered minor injuries in the crash. Police have opened an investigation for negligent homicide and negligent bodily injury.
