The world of journalism and television in Ecuador mourned the death of several communication workers. Alfredo Pinoargote, Tania Tinoco, Patricio Gavilanes and Miguel Cedeño leave a void in the world of the Ecuadorian press.

In the early hours of Saturday March 19, one of the icons who was a presenter on the television channel, Ecuavisa, died. Alfredo Pinoargote died in the province of Guayas, the city where he lived.

“I am truly sorry for the death of a great journalist who served the country and Ecuadorians with his work. His legacy will be remembered by all. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Peace in his grave”, expressed the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, after the event that occurred with the reference of the world of information.

Since 2009, Pinoargote has hosted the news and interview space known as “Direct Contact”. He was also a columnist for the magazine Vistazo, of which he was the editor years ago and collaborated with the newspaper El Universo.

Friends and family of Tania Tinoco announced the painful news of her departure on May 21. The death occurred in the United States, where she was transferred to treat her cardiac arrhythmia.

Born 59 years ago in Machala, province of El Oro, his presence has accompanied Ecuadorians through Ecuavisa’s information programs. Through this channel, he had a career spanning just over 30 years. She was also a presenter on Telemundo.

In addition, she hosted the investigative journalism program Vision360. “At 15, I already knew I was going to be a ‘storyteller,'” said Jenny Estrada.

Her debut in the profession began, as she said, with an interview in the magazine Mundo Diners, when she was part of the journalism club at her school in Guayaquil.

On June 1 of this year, journalist Hugo Gavilanes died. This was confirmed by RTC through a statement from its Twitter account. In this environment, he has worked in recent years.

For a year, the journalist has seen his health affected following the consequences of Covid-19. His daughter, Erika Gavilanes, reported that her father was hospitalized and under medical supervision.

Shocking news has flooded social networks with the death of Miguel Cedeño, better known as “La cerecita del pastel”. The Ecuadorian entertainment icon has died of cancer.

One of his main goals, on the small screen, was to age and carve out a career similar to that of the Chilean Don Francisco and also to shine in the international press.
