Wiesbaden The total number of students in Germany has hardly changed compared to the previous year. However, the numbers in general education and vocational schools have changed somewhat.
This corresponds to demographic development: the relevant age group between 5 and 19 years old was the same size at the end of 2020 as it was a year earlier.
According to the information, there was some change in individual school types: general schools have 8.4 million more students in the current school year, which is 0.7 percent more. In vocational schools, the number dropped by 1.7 percent to 2.3 million. 1.3 million or 12.4 percent of the total number of students currently have foreign citizenship, up 1.7 percent from the previous school year.
