The number of new infections continues to rise in Lower Saxony

Hannover (dpa / lni) – The number of new corona infections in Lower Saxony has increased again. According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence on Thursday was 1,540.4. This is the number of people per 100,000 inhabitants who contracted the virus in the last seven days. The day before, the value was still 1522.1. A total of 25,632 new infections were registered nationwide and 20 more people died. The total number of deaths from Covid 19 in Lower Saxony rose to 7764.
The hospitalization score rose to 14.3. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants with Covid-19 have been admitted to hospitals in the last seven days. The occupancy of intensive care beds with Covid patients also rose to 6.4 percent from the previous day.
The district of Grafschaft Bentheim recorded the highest incidence with 2,383.0, followed by the district of Gifhorn (2,132.9) and the city of Wolfsburg (2,118.9). Vechta district had the lowest incidence with a value of 604.0.
According to a federal and state decision, many protective measures against the coronavirus will be removed across the country from March 20. The federal government’s draft for the future rules was openly criticized in Lower Saxony. The state government wants to present a transitional regulation that should apply in Lower Saxony until the beginning of April.
According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence in Bremen on Thursday was 1165.1. A total of 1763 new cases were registered and another Covid 19 patient died.
