The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, inspected the second phase of the UAE national rail network project, which is being developed by Etihad Rail, during a visit aboard the train designated for inspection and supervision of the various construction sites of the project in Abu Dhabi.
Suhail Al Mazrouei was accompanied on the visit by the Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport, Eng. Hassan Mohamed Juma Al Mansouri, and they were received by the CEO of Etihad Rail, Shadi Malak, and several company officials, who inspected the construction. site of the main operation and maintenance center, which is the backbone of the network and responsible for controlling the operations of the rail network.

Al Mazrouei was briefed on the train operating systems and toured the facilities of the center and facilities, which are undergoing significant development in terms of construction work in accordance with the highest international standards and levels, and in line with the schedule approved by the company.

Heard an explanation from national cadres, project managers and engineers on the progress of work at Etihad Rail and its link with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as their insights into the project’s operating model, freight train stations , the most important achievements of the first phase and developments of the second phase of the project, and the achievements reached by the company The most outstanding of them is the union of the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai with a direct train line within the “Etihad Train” network, following the completion of the 256-kilometre train line, in preparation for linking the rest of the country’s emirates, within the framework of the “National Railway Program” launched by the UAE under the umbrella of the fifty projects, where the program is considered The value of the investment which is estimated at 50 billion dirhams, is the largest system of its kind for land transport in all the emirates of l country, to chart the course of the railway sector for the coming years and decades.

The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure heard an explanation of the passenger rail services project, the rail legislation and its commercial developments, the contracts and alliances signed by the company, including an agreement with the First Abu Dhabi Bank, to finance the services project AED 1.99 billion passenger rail services, under which First Abu Dhabi Bank will assume the duties of the approved lead arranger for the loan.
