Steam Deck: How to Operate Halo Infinite

On the Steam Deck, you cannot only play verified titles. We’ll show you how to get Halo Infinite multiplayer working on the Valve handheld.

  • Halo Infinite is currently not a verified game for the Steam Deck.
  • But the Steam Deck community has crafted a Proton update.
  • Among other things, the Proton update makes Halo Infinite playable on the Steam Deck.

Not only can you play all verified titles on the Steam Deck, but you can also play games from the Epic Games Store or Xbox Game Pass.

In a roundabout way, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer mode can even be played on the Valve handheld. Currently there is one created by the community Proton Update in the test phase, which should make this possible and which you can already use.

  • 1. Go to Settings, then System Updates, then select “Overview”.
  • 2. Switch to desktop mode and install the “ProtonUp-Qt” application.
  • 3. Run the new update called “GE-Proton 7-26”.
  • 4. Open the Halo Infinite installation folder and delete the Videos subfolder.
  • 5. Go to Halo Infinite in the Steam library and press the “Settings” button.
  • 6. Select the “Compatibility” menu item and then “GE-Proton 7-26”.
  • 7. Launch Halo Infinite.

However, keep in mind that an update that does not come directly from Valve could damage your Steam Deck. You therefore act at your own risk. Apparently something else may be damaging the handheld. Valve has issued a summer warning.
