Berlin (dpa) – Federal Family Minister Anne Spiegel (Greens) will appear this Friday as scheduled before the inquiry committee to investigate the flood disaster in North Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz.

The minister will testify in the evening before the committee, a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency said on Friday. “She has always made it clear that this is a very important issue for her. She is therefore very happy that the corona test has come back negative and that she can go to Mainz.”

Spiegel had stayed home for the last two weeks after the positive corona tests. The prerequisite for planned participation in the meeting was a negative test result on Friday morning, he said.

A few days before the scheduled hearing in committee, transcripts of non-public conversations surfaced. According to short messages published by “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) and “Focus online”, the main thing between Spiegel and his press spokesman on the morning after the flood disaster in July 2021 was to find an “edition” that would I have warned in time. At the time, Anne Spiegel was Minister for the Environment and Deputy Prime Minister of the federal state.
