Due to a Ukrainian flag in front of his shop, the owner of a workshop in Berlin-Charlottenburg is said to have been attacked with an iron bar and then threw the attacker to the ground.

The 42-year-old suspected attacker is said to have hit the wooden door, the facade and finally the owner of the workshop with an iron bar on Saturday night, police said.

The 56-year-old shop owner, who lives on the shop premises, was alarmed by the noise and ran out. He knocked the attacker to the ground and held him until police arrived.

Authorities temporarily arrested the apparently heavily intoxicated 42-year-old man and ordered a blood test, a police spokesman said.

The workshop owner was injured in the forearm in the alleged attack on Quedlinburger Straße, but refused medical treatment.
