Seoul, March 29 (EFE).- The Seoul Stock Exchange closed higher today and its benchmark index, the Kospi, gained 0.42% in a day marked by expectations towards the talks between Russia and Ukraine that begin today .
The South Korean benchmark advanced 11.51 points to 2,741.07 points, while the Kosdaq technology index gained 10.72 points, or 1.16%, to 937.83 points.
After the good day on Wall Street on Monday, Seoul started on a positive note, with institutional investors as the main buyers today.
The selective remained in green all day supported by the optimism surrounding the talks between Russian and Ukrainian diplomats that begin today in Istanbul.
The largest-cap stock on the South Korean floor, tech giant Samsung Electronics, rose 0.72%, while the world’s second-largest memory chipmaker SK Hynix gained 1.69%.
The consortium that owns the most used search engine in South Korea, Naver, appreciated 0.75%, and cocoa, the operator of the most popular national instant messaging application, advanced 0.48%.
In the biopharmaceutical sector, Samsung Biologics gains 0.61% and rival Celltrion gains 1.49%.
In turn, the largest manufacturer of domestic vehicles, Hyundai Motor, increased its share price by 1.15%.
