Osnabrück (dpa / lni) – In the third trial for the violent death of a young woman in a forest at the Loccum monastery, a verdict is expected on Thursday (9 am). A sex offender with multiple convictions is charged with murder. In September 2015 he was released from the Rehburg forensic center (Nienburg district). When he returned, a 23-year-old runner was dead in a remote part of the forest.
In a first circumstantial trial, the Verden district court had sentenced the man to eleven and a half years in prison with remand in 2017 for involuntary manslaughter. Surprisingly, a second trial in Verden ended in 2019 with an acquittal for lack of evidence. The family and the prosecution successfully challenged this sentence before the Federal Court of Justice (BGH). The case was referred to Osnabrück.
