Dove of peace topped with signatures of politicians
Osnabrück/Berlin (dpa/lni) – Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz also signed a wooden peace dove by the artist Mika Springwald; the artwork is now auctioned. Some 90 members of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag wrote their autographs on the dove, which is held on its side in Ukraine’s national colors of yellow and blue, the Osnabrück diocese announced on Thursday. The proceeds are intended to support refugees from Ukraine in the Warmia-Masuria region, the Osnabrück district partner group.
A spokesperson for the diocese explained that employees of the Osnabrück diocese had shared selfies with the dove of peace on social media since the end of February. This included Bishop Franz-Josef Bode. On the initiative of the SPD member of the Bundestag, Anke Hennig from Bramsche, a copy of the work created for the diocese of Osnabrück reached the Bundestag. In addition to Scholz, the signatories include the Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach and the federal presidents of the SPD, Saskia Esken and Lars Klingbeil. The auction lasts until April 14.
