Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov does not rule out President Vladimir Putin using the atomic bomb. That’s a message to the West, but the intelligence community is taking the scenario seriously.

Ever since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the country’s nuclear forces to be put on high alert, the world has been wondering: Would the Kremlin chief use the ultimate weapon? Christiane Amanpour, chief presenter of the American news channel CNN, has now asked Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, in a modified way: Do you rule out his boss using the nuclear option? Peskow certainly didn’t do that.
