Nilam Farooq fights in “Who’s Stealing the Show?” For victory. In an interview, she reveals her “worst category of all”.
Nilam Farooq (32 years old) will appear on August 2 with Olli Schulz (48 years old) and Fahri Yardim (41 years old) in the fourth season of “Who steals the show? (8:15 p.m., ProSieben and on Joyn) for the show Joko In In an interview with the Spot on news press agency, she reveals how the actress prepared for the show and what she thinks of her opponents.
How did you prepare for the show exactly?
Nilam Farooq: I saw all the episodes. I’m like, “Who’s stealing the show?” is one of the best TV shows. But I remembered it more as a game show – until I sat down on the first show. Then I realized: it’s a pure game show. Then, before the next recordings, I looked at a few facts, like ministers, states, and capitals, and hoped something would come out of it. Of course, that was not the case.
With the knowledge you have acquired, would you also use “Who wants to be a millionaire?” to participate?
Farooq: I recently participated in “Blamieren oder Kassieren XL”. It went really well, to be honest. (laughs) “Who wants to be a millionaire?” I think it’s great because you have options for the answers. Now I would definitely say yes. I realized that nothing bad could happen. In the end, it’s all about having fun.
Were you afraid of failing in the Easy Five category?
Farooq: This is the worst category of all. I curse her. Even when I had an idea, I was immediately so anxious. Even if they only asked my first name, I would have to think twice. I really had a lot of respect for the category.
What was your worst case scenario on the show?
Farooq: That a question arises, the answer to which is actually obvious, but I’m not just answering badly, but really badly. For example, when you are asked what is the capital of Germany, you do not write Bonn because you are stuck in time, but Buxtehude Nord. Just a very bad answer. Certainly a difficult example.
Are Olli Schulz, Fahri Yardim and Joko Winterscheidt competitors for you?
Farooq: They are definitely competitors. I couldn’t judge Olli and Fahri at all. Both do a lot of mischief and you wonder what’s behind it. But I can already tell you: a lot. I also had a lot of respect for Joko. He’s my number one enemy in the series. He has a wide range of knowledge and simply knows things no one else knows. But he does not know the simplest things. But in the end, you just want to put on an entertaining show together. And I really like boys.
But you still wanted to win…
Farooq: Of course, that’s why you compete. I’m very ambitious anyway and I love to play. At first, I still thought winning would be the icing on the cake. But just being able to join in the show and have fun felt like a win. But with each show, the ambition grew, because organizing a ProSieben show in prime time would be great. So I had a plan in mind in advance.
You have watched all seasons. Did you learn anything from your predecessors?
Farooq: If you have no idea, you should at least try to be creative. You could see it with Teddy. You can also use a little humor and try to cover up your own lack of plan before giving a serious, stupid answer.
Do your friends still like to play games with you on game night?
Farooq: We still don’t know how it ended. (laughs) We don’t usually play knowledge games, but more typical games – lots and lots.
What is your favorite game ?
Farooq: Now, I just said that there are no knowledge games, but that’s not entirely true: “Duel for money”. It’s the board game that goes with the show before. The answer is always a number written on a card. Then you continue to play, like a game of poker. Depending on how close you are to the correct answer, you win or lose.
Can you play poker?
Farooq: Yes. I even earned my rent playing online poker for a while.
What projects are you currently working on?
Farooq: Doris Dörrie’s new film “Freibad” hits theaters on September 1st. It is the small microcosm in which each of the different people lives and who find themselves in the outdoor swimming pool. I’m currently filming “Manta, Manta 2”, which won’t be available until next year.
