New episodes for “Beyond the Spree”
Jürgen Vogel shoots new episodes of “Beyond the Spree” in Berlin-Köpenick. The Friday night thriller was a hit for ZDF.
New missions for Jürgen Vogel (54) “Beyond the Spree”. As ZDF announced in a press release, the filming of new episodes of the detective series has started in the Berlin district of Köpenick. Vogel has been investigating as Chief Inspector Robert Heffler since September 2021, alongside his colleague Kay Freund (Seyneb Saleh, 34).
Stress for Robert Heffler, professionally and privately
To begin, Heffler and Freund must investigate an explosive case: a murder in their own ranks. It also becomes stressful for the inspector in his private life. His three daughters want to find him a new wife. But Heffler would prefer to continue his non-committal affair with his boss Katharina Koblinski (Elisabeth Baulitz, 48). Or is there more to do with the head of department?
Filming will end this month – start of transmission not yet known
Filming in Köpenick, the “greenest part of Berlin” (ZDF), should end in mid-July, according to information from the broadcaster. There are no air dates yet for the new season. The broadcaster also did not communicate if there were four episodes again. The first season’s four hour-long episodes aired on Friday nights, the tried-and-tested second timeslot for thrillers.
The ratings for the first season of “Jenseits der Spree” were satisfactory for ZDF. The first case on September 24, 2021 attracted 5.27 million viewers. In episode two, it was even 5.36. Towards the end of the season, it dipped slightly, to 5.14 million viewers.
