More refugee accommodation in Bremen
Bremen (dpa / lni) – Bremen has prepared more accommodation for short-term refugees from Ukraine. These include two hotels, parts of a student residence and a sports hall; tents and containers will follow. “This type of accommodation is anything but ideal for newcomers,” Social Affairs Senator Anja Stahmann (Greens) said on Monday. However, it is currently the last resort to protect those affected from homelessness.
The city is adjusting to current and future waves of arrivals. About 2,000 people have already been housed by the state and municipalities. In addition, many residents of Bremen offered accommodation and help. “Now we have hundreds of offers. Bremen can be proud of this enormous willingness to help,” Stahmann said. The offers would be reviewed and mediated, but this would take some time.
