Attack on suspected drug gang

Aurich (dpa / lni) – The East Frisian police took action against a suspected drug gang in a large-scale operation. With the help of special forces, officers arrested a total of four suspects, three of them now in custody, the Aurich prosecutor and police announced on Thursday. During Wednesday’s operation, several apartments were also searched in Aurich and in the cities of Großheide and Pewsum (Aurich district). Several kilos of amphetamine and marijuana were seized, as well as firearms, knives and cash. Two cars were also seized.

Officials announced that the defendants were being investigated on suspicion of being a gang that trafficked drugs in large quantities. This was preceded by intense undercover investigations that lasted for a longer period of time. Investigators suspect an organized drug crime.

The main suspect is a 32-year-old man from Aurich. He and another 56-year-old man from Aurich and a 38-year-old man from Großheide were arrested. According to the police, they were deployed with numerous forces, including a special unit of the Lower Saxony police, riot police officers and dog handlers.
