Klingbeil on Schröder’s trip: “It will certainly explain itself”
Berlin (dpa/lni) – According to his own statements, SPD Federal Chairman Lars Klingbeil received no information about the conversation after former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder’s visit to Moscow, but he assumes that Schröder will speak soon. “Personally, and as far as I can see, the Federal Chancellery as well, we have no information on what resulted from this visit,” Klingbeil said Tuesday on RTL/ntv’s “Frühstart” program. He went on to say: “It will certainly explain itself, because of course the German public is also interested in what the former chancellor is doing there.”
Schröder traveled to Moscow last Wednesday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine. According to information from dpa and other media, Schröder flew to Moscow via Istanbul. On Thursday, a conversation took place between Schröder and Putin.
