Fire in asylum accommodation: firefighters save residents
Hinte (dpa / lni) – A fire broke out early Thursday morning in a nursing home in the municipality of Hinte (Aurich district). According to the fire department, there was a fire in the kitchen of the living room in the basement of the building. According to the information, most of the 45 residents had already left. When firefighters searched the rooms, they discovered a resident still sleeping upstairs. This was brought to safety by the emergency services, the fire department said. No one was injured. The fire department said the fire was quickly extinguished. Once the building was ventilated, the upper area could be reoccupied, but the basement rooms were uninhabitable.
The exact cause of the fire was initially unclear, police said. Investigations were launched in this regard. Authorities estimate the damage caused to be in the six-figure range.
