Churches collect collections for refugees from Ukraine
Hannover (dpa/lni) – The Evangelical and Catholic churches want to raise money for the refugees from Ukraine at services next Sunday. The fastest and currently most sensible way to help is financial support for the professional work of aid organizations, the Confederation of Evangelical Churches of Lower Saxony in Hannover announced on Thursday. That is why the purpose of next Sunday’s collection has been changed.
Communities are recommended to support the work of aid organizations with collections. The Catholic Church also supports the call. “Together we must do everything to quickly help Ukrainian refugees with the necessities of life,” said Catholic Bishop Heiner Wilmer of Hildesheim.
