Barge stranded on the Weser
Verden (dpa / lni) – A barge has run aground on the Weser in the Verden district. The ship crossed on Sunday and blocked the river for several hours near Groß Hutbergen, a spokesman for the water police in Nienburg said. No one was injured and no hazardous materials were spilled. After about three hours, the ship was able to proceed without damage after one dam was opened and another closed, causing the water level to rise. The ship was headed for Bremen. It is not yet clear why she ran aground. The Verden Waterways and Navigation Office was on site.
