Trial begins against two men after murder in Visselhövede
Verden (dpa / lni) – After the fatal shooting of a 46-year-old man in January 2017 in Visselhövede in the district of Rotenburg, the trial of two men began on Monday before the Verden district court. The 31- and 35-year-old suspects, of Albanian nationality, face murder charges. According to the indictment, the 31-year-old man is said to have observed the latest victim and told the accomplice about him as the man left the home. The 35-year-old man is said to have shot his 46-year-old compatriot. It is said that he was driving a motorcycle with another man who has already been sentenced to life in prison for the crime.
The deadly shooting near a primary school had caused a sensation across the country. In March 2018, a 23-year-old man was convicted of murder as a motorcycle driver. A second defendant was acquitted, but his participation in the crime could not be proven. The trial at the time could not clarify who the gunman was.
After reading the indictment on Monday, the presiding judge noted that an unknown third party may also have fired the shot. The 35-year-old may have instigated the other parties involved. The dates for the process are scheduled until October.
