Kunsthaus Göttingen shows associated project for documenta

Göttingen (dpa/lni) – Parallel to the documenta art exhibition in Kassel, the Kunsthaus Göttingen will show a partner project entitled “House of Paper”. “This is a milestone for Göttingen as a cultural venue and for the Kunsthaus,” the city’s mayor, Petra Broistedt, said on Monday. The 15th documenta can be seen from June 18 to September 25, as well as the exhibition in Göttingen.
The curator of “The paper house” is the founding director of Kunsthaus, the publisher Gerhard Steidl. Several artists treat paper as an artistic medium and in some cases want to show visitors how it is created. To do this, some artists will work temporarily in the place during the exhibition period. As in the documenta, the artistic processes are going to be rehearsed together and taken to the outside world, cooperation and collective decision-making being decisive.
“We are pleased that with the ‘Paper House’ at Kunsthaus Göttingen we have a great project associated with excellent artistic positions entering into a fruitful exchange with those involved in documenta fifteen”, emphasized Sabine Schormann, general director of documenta and Museo Fridericianum. The documenta is one of the most important exhibitions of contemporary art in the world.
