Berlin (AP) – Actor Jake Gyllenhaal says he’s a careful driver. “I’m the slow driver on the Autobahn that you honk your horn at to get out of the way,” Gyllenhaal said at the presentation of his new film “Ambulance” on Tuesday in Berlin. “This is me.” The action film directed by blockbuster specialist Michael Bay (“Pearl Harbor”) will be released in German cinemas on March 24.
This is why he felt uncomfortable at times during filming, as fellow actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II revealed. Some of these took place in a moving ambulance. “I laughed a lot because I knew while I was working that Jake wasn’t feeling well right now,” he said. “Jake doesn’t act, he really doesn’t feel good.”
Gyllenhaal, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role in “Brokeback Mountain,” preferred to rely on stuntmen for stunts. “I think driving a car, as everyone here in this country probably knows better than all of us, is an innate skill,” the 41-year-old said. “I’m just being more careful, I think. And Yahya had more fun.”
