Infection rates in Lower Saxony continue to worsen

Hannover/Bremen (dpa/lni) – The coronavirus situation in Lower Saxony continued to worsen until Wednesday. The central reference points to evaluate the contagion situation have risen, according to data published by the country. The seven-day incidence increased to 1,878.7, compared to 1,811.2 the previous day. This is the number of people per 100,000 inhabitants who have contracted the coronavirus in the last seven days.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), a further 38 people infected with Corona died, the total number in Lower Saxony increased to 7864 deaths. The hospitalization score increased from 15.5 to 15.8. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants with Covid-19 have been admitted to hospitals in the last seven days. The occupancy rate of intensive care beds with Covid patients increased to 6.9 percent (6.7 percent on Tuesday).

The highest seven-day incidence in Lower Saxony was recorded in Bentheim county on Wednesday with 2,676.0, followed by Gifhorn district with 2,430.8 and Leer district with 2,368.2. Vechta district had the lowest incidence with a value of 299.2.

According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence in Bremen fell to 1331.4 on Wednesday. On Tuesday the value was still 1348.3. There were three other deaths.
