Hundreds of people demonstrate in Bremen against the war in Ukraine

Bremen (dpa/lni) – Several hundred people protested this Sunday in Bremen against the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine. Police put the number at around 1,300. All is going smoothly, a police spokeswoman said. Numerous people also gathered in Hildesheim in the evening for the same reason, according to police estimates there were around 700 participants.

Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24 on the orders of President Vladimir Putin. Since then, thousands of people have been killed and millions of Ukrainians have fled their country.

With a motorbike parade, several motorists in East Frisia expressed their protest against the conflict and the bloodshed. A woman from Emden had called for action and the Aurich police estimated that there were 250 participants. The officials accompanied the train to Emden.

Also in East Frisia, a caravan with a hundred vehicles was on the road to protest against high fuel prices. The cars traveled about 54 kilometers from Emsbüren to Meppen at a slow pace.
