Globally, gold prices fell on Monday as hopes rose for progress in Russia-Ukraine peace talks scheduled for this week, dampening demand for the safe haven of bullion.
And the spot price of gold fell 0.5% to $1,947.90 an ounce by 0151 GMT. And US gold futures fell 0.2 percent to $1,949.70.
With peace talks between Russia and Ukraine set to start in Turkey this week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has insisted on his country’s territorial integrity after suggesting he was ready for a compromise.
