Further increase in new infections in Lower Saxony and Bremen

Hannover/Bremen (dpa/lni) – The number of corona infections in Lower Saxony has continued to rise. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence on Saturday was 1,723.5. This is the number of people per 100,000 inhabitants who contracted the coronavirus in the last seven days. On Friday the value was still 1683.2. Throughout the country, 26,043 new infections were registered and 17 more people died. The total number of deaths from Covid 19 in Lower Saxony rose to 7797.

The hospitalization score remained at 14.9. This value indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants with Covid-19 have been admitted to hospitals in the last seven days. The occupancy rate of intensive care beds with Covid patients decreased slightly to 6.2. On Friday, this figure was 6.4 percent.

The district of Grafschaft Bentheim recorded the highest incidence with 2,498.4, followed by the districts of Gifhorn (2,253.6) and Northeim (2,213.7). Vechta district had the lowest incidence with a value of 640.8.

According to the RKI, the seven-day incidence in Bremen on Saturday was 1261.4. On Friday the value was still 1219.8. A total of 1446 new corona cases were recorded and another six Covid 19 patients died.
