The climate movement “Fridays for Future” calls for the 10th global climate strike on Friday. It has the slogan “#PeopleNotProfit”. Demonstrations for greater climate protection are planned in numerous cities.
In addition to a demonstration in the Invalidenpark between the Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection and the Ministry of Transport, a demonstration is planned at the Brandenburg Gate for Berlin.
Even if a new coalition now governs in Germany, the demands of the climate protection movement have not changed, the appeal says: “We are fighting for the constant observance of the 1.5 degree limit and thus for the preservation of a future worth living in today. and above all of future generations.”
In addition to numerous organizations, Protestant Bishop Christian Stäblein and Catholic Auxiliary Bishop Matthias Heinrich also called for the demonstration.
In response to the war in Ukraine, “Fridays for Future” spokespeople have repeatedly called for a faster phase-out of fossil fuels and a “step into renewables.” (epd/teaspoon)
