Final “Cold Case” Helmstedt Murder Verdict

Braunschweig (dpa/lni) – The murder sentence for violent death in Helmstedt is final more than ten years after the fact. The Braunschweig district court announced on Thursday that the defendant’s appeal had been rejected as inadmissible for lack of justification. A criminal courtroom sentenced the 48-year-old to life in prison in October 2021 for treasonable murder.

In the circumstantial evidence process, the court concluded that the man had killed an acquaintance in Helmstedt in December 2011. The trial against the German was only possible after such a long time because, according to the prosecution, the defendant revealed suddenly what he knew as a witness and admitted that he had been in the victim’s apartment.
