He will probably never forget this birthday: Marichalar y Borbón’s Felipe Juan Froilán celebrated his 24th birthday with friends at a club in Marbella last weekend. But suddenly, shots rang out.
Felipe Juan Froilán de Marichalar y Borbón, 24, had a nightmare. The 54-year-old nephew of Spain’s King Felipe actually wanted to celebrate his life, but suddenly it was threatened. When the birthday boy blew the cork in the VIP area of the Opium Beach Club in Marbella, gunfire suddenly drowned out the boozy party. Some guests of the place fought, as reported by the newspaper “El Periódico”. And then the conflict escalated.

One of those involved allegedly suddenly brandished a gun and pulled the trigger. Mass panic ensued. The police received the emergency call around 1 a.m. Emergency services reportedly found four people with gunshot wounds when they arrived. According to reports, two of them are currently in intensive care. The suspected shooter, a 32-year-old Dutchman, is also receiving clinical treatment. Infanta Elena, 58, Felipe’s mother, had to lift a load: fortunately, her son was not injured. An official statement from the palace is still pending.
