Avril Lavigne is celebrating 20 years since she released her debut single ‘Complicated’.
The singer shaped the pop-punk scene of the 2000s like no other artist. With songs like ‘Sk8er Boi’ he conquered the world charts. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the single ‘Complicado’, the musician has now published an emotional memory of her on Instagram. There, the 37-year-old shared a series of photos taken from the accompanying music video.
“Holy crap! ‘Complicated’ was released exactly twenty years ago. This song holds such a special place in my heart,” she wrote. “It was my first single from my first album. The song that started it all for me. Damn ties… black eyeliner… tank tops… fat skate shoes… Dickies! It was the first music video I shot. The first time I heard myself on the radio.”
The ‘Bite Me’ hitmaker would like to thank her creative team, record label and fans for always supporting her all these years. “I never could have imagined where this song and the wonderful fan base it has created would take me. I will forever be so grateful to you guys for embracing my music and showing me so much love then and now 20 years later.” Just two weeks ago, Avril released her new album ‘Love Sux’, in which she returns to her musical roots.
