LEON, July 20th. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The El Bierzo region maintains “a hot spot” between the towns of Puente and San Pedro de Trones after the Puente de Domingo Flórez wildfire was declared Level 2 on Tuesday afternoon.
As reported by Europa Press from the territorial delegation of the Junta de Castilla y León, the residents of San Pedro de Trones continue to be evacuated as a precaution.
Residents of Salas de la Ribera were able to return to their homes late Tuesday afternoon after “essential work” by troops deployed to the area, including the Military Emergency Unit (UME).
45 people are currently trying to stop the flames from spreading. The operation consists of a bulldozer, ground crew, helicopter, helicopter crew and the UME itself.
It’s not the only active wildfire in the area as there are three active herds in the Montes de Valdueza, however they are fairly localized due to the nighttime temperature and truce.
In this area, the residents of Ozuela, Orbanajo, Rimor, San Adrián and Ferradillo have been evacuated as a precaution, which means that around 150 people have left their homes.
The board is confident that the outbreaks of this fire will not happen again, despite the rise in temperature expected this Wednesday.
A total of 129 people are working to put out the flames of this fire, including three forest technicians, four ground crews, four environmental agents, three helicopters, three ELIFs, a reinforcement brigade, a seaplane, a coordination plane, six bulldozers, two fire engines and UME troops.
