Eisbären Berlin awaits a very difficult task after their forced break due to corona.
On Friday night, the leader of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) has to face second-placed Adler Mannheim (7:30 p.m. / Magentasport). “We don’t care,” coach Serge Aubin said Thursday. “But of course we know what to expect against Mannheim. This is a top team that plays very physically. It will be a good test for us to come back and see where we are.”
After the week-long team quarantine due to numerous cases of corona in the team and coaching staff, coach Aubin was pleased with the performance of his players in the previous two practice sessions. The line-up in which the team will be able to compete on Friday will only be decided at short notice: “I hope we can have an almost complete line-up,” said the Canadian. “We should have enough players to be competitive.”

Striker Johan Södergran is about to make his debut in the polar bear jersey. The 22-year-old Swede moved to the capital a few days ago on loan until the end of the season. He previously played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Ontario Reign, the Los Angeles Kings farm team.
“Just because we’re a bit knocked out, you have a chance to get some Ice Age right away,” Aubin said. “He’s a good solid two-way player who will help us.”
