Education allocates 50 million to launch VET Centers of Excellence network

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) has launched a €50 million call for funding to build the state network of centers of excellence for vocational training.

This investment from component 20 of the development, transformation and resilience plan is used to finance the qualification and integration plans of the selected centers, which will be carried out over a maximum period of three years, as the department head announced on Thursday to Pilar Glück.

In this sense, he explained that the new network will consist of at least fifty public centers in the different autonomous communities that will offer vocational training offers linked to the National Catalog of Professional Qualifications and belonging to predefined professional sectors.

In this way, Education has indicated that the competent public administrations in the field of VET, the recipients of all funds and will be responsible for their justification, can claim these grants. These funds are fully transferred to the selected centers to fund their plans and projects for integration into the network of excellence.

With this new action, contained in the organic law on the organization and integration of vocational training, the MEFP will fund the methodological and digital transformation of the premises and equipment of the center, the incorporation of applied disruptive technologies, teacher training at state level, development of innovation and applied research projects or networking, etc

The members of this ecosystem will act as creators of environments for innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship in the field of VET. They are involved in determining the needs of the professional profiles in the manufacturing industry and in the curricular revision of the corresponding training offers.

Likewise, they will work closely with their local businesses, business and trade union federations, training centers and third sector institutions to become drivers of innovation throughout the territory and promote internationalisation.

Regarding the professional fields defined in this call, he indicated that they are automotive, audiovisual, health, transport and logistics, food, hospitality, tourism, aviation, automated manufacturing, renewable energy, construction and sustainable energy supply, and information technologies, Mechatronics and cyber security.

Finally, Education explained that the maximum amount of funding for a center that is part of the state network of vocational training competence centers is two million euros.
