“Earth Hour”: Lights go out in Lower Saxony on Saturday
Hannover (dpa/lni) – This Saturday it will be dark all over the world – Lower Saxony and Bremen are also part of “Earth Hour”. “Earth Hour” should be an example of peace, climate and environmental protection. Numerous towns, municipalities, companies and individuals from the north join the campaign called by the environmental organization WWF. At 8:30 p.m., the New Town Hall in Hannover, the Cathedral in Braunschweig and the Kugelbake in Cuxhaven will go dark for one hour. The Wolfsburg Planetarium invites you to observe the sky during this time.
According to WWF, the switch will be symbolically activated in some 650 cities and communities throughout Germany. The campaign is taking place for the 16th time this year, on all continents in more than 180 countries. In 2007, Sydney, Australia, became the first city in the world to symbolically darken its landmarks.
