Dylan O’Brien has revealed that he always gets “very nervous” when he goes to auditions.
Best known for playing Thomas in the ‘Maze Runner’ sci-fi movie trilogy, the 30-year-old actor now stars in the crime drama ‘The Outfit’ alongside stars Mark Rylance and Zoey Deutch, but admitted he still feels uncomfortable auditioning for roles
Speaking to ‘Collider’, O’Brien said: “I get very nervous going to audition rooms. When you have to go to audition and the director and producers are there and there’s a couch full of people, There’s something really triggering? about this whole process. I don’t know, but I don’t know a single person who’s happy with this process. You’re crazy when you are! It’s not normal! The former ‘Teen Wolf’ star also revealed that in the casting rooms he was “absolutely in [sein] face falls” and would rather make a film for casting directors because that would allow him to feel comfortable in his “own space.” Dylan added, “You have to commit to jobs in this medium first and then if I’m lucky enough to get a job and coming on set, it’s so far removed from what the job really is that it feels weird basing decisions on it because it’s such a different environment. I absolutely fall flat on my face in these environments. There is so much fear, so much nervousness and your heart is pounding. You can’t really disappear into it. You have a wall of people staring at you. It’s hard, recording on video is much easier.”
