Construction workers on trial for manslaughter
Goettingen (dpa/lni) – In Goettingen, a 43-year-old man is due to answer to the district court for involuntary manslaughter as of today. The construction worker is accused of improperly operating a crane and causing him to fall, a court spokesman said. One man reportedly died. Another construction worker was injured.
The defendant is said to have used the crane despite the fact that one component was clearly inoperable. The man is said to have exceeded the permitted payload of 1,070 kilograms by 1,124 kilograms. According to the court spokesman, four witnesses are invited to the start of the trial. The verdict could possibly come out as early as Wednesday.
