Christoph Platz-Gallus becomes director of the Kunstverein
Hannover (dpa/lni) – Christoph Platz-Gallus will be the new director of the Hannover Art Association. The 39-year-old succeeds Kathleen Rahn, who has joined the Marta Herford Museum as artistic director. Platz-Gallus has been head of curatorial affairs at the “Steirischer Herbst” festival in Graz, Austria, since 2018, where he also teaches at the Institute for Contemporary Art (IZK). As the Kunstverein announced on Tuesday, his program in Hannover will start in January 2023.
Art becomes systemically relevant when it is impossible to imagine our daily lives without it, said the new director after his election. “We want to try to achieve that together. I really want to do it.” The 39-year-old was unanimously appointed. Among other things, the selection committee was convinced by the diverse international experience of the art historian, curator and cultural manager.
