Bus passenger in Berlin-Grunewald racially insulted and beaten with a shoe

A man racially insulted a passenger on a bus in Berlin-Grunewald and hit him with a shoe.

The suspected attacker was on a bus on Königsallee in the direction of Hagenplatz on Saturday morning, police said on Sunday.

The 36-year-old man initially made a racial slur at the 24-year-old passenger. He then allegedly removed a shoe and hit the victim in the head with it.

When the man was arrested by alerted police, he again insulted one of the officers. The 24-year-old had headaches, but he reportedly wanted to seek treatment from a doctor. The motive for the attack was initially unclear. State police security has taken over the investigation. (dpa)
