Behrens on the Corona situation: Lower Saxony will not become a flashpoint
Hannover (dpa / lni) – After most corona restrictions were lifted on April 3, according to Health Minister Daniela Behrens, Lower Saxony is currently not eligible for a state hotspot regulation. The SPD politician said on NDR television on Monday: “For this we would have to show that the health system was in serious danger and that it was overloaded.” There is a high load on the health system, but not an overload. “And that’s why Lower Saxony will not become a hotspot,” Behrens said. She explained this position a week ago in the state parliament in Hannover. The Greens had previously asked Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) to define the criteria that must be met for the hotspot rule to apply.
She was very unhappy with the new infection protection, Behrens told NDR. The other state health ministers feel the same way. But the Bundestag has now decided. “We have to act with a lot of independence, so we have to take responsibility for ourselves and wear a face mask and a nose, for example,” the minister emphasized.
