Aqua Comms investment in the Havhingsten system adds diversity to the connection between Ireland, the UK and the Nordic countries
DUBLIN, March 25, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aqua Comms, a leading provider of global submarine connectivity services and co-owner of the Havhingsten cable system, today announced the successful launch of CeltixConnect-2 (CC-2) and North Sea Connect (NSC) .
CC-2 is the second Aqua Comms co-funded repeaterless system between major data centers in Ireland and the UK, with several endpoints in the Isle of Man (IOM). Together with CC-1, the new system ensures robust connections with high fiber count and capacity between these important hubs for the carrier, cloud and content market segments.
NSC enables a completely new two-way connection between the UK and the Nordic countries. The repeater cable system connects D9’s SeaEdge-1 stellium data center in Newcastle, UK, to Blaabjerg, Denmark, where Aqua Comms’ AEC-2 transatlantic cable system terminates.
CC-2 and NSC also provide regional connectivity to Aqua Comms’ AEC-1 and AEC-2 transatlantic cables, providing resiliency and diversity between the US, Ireland, UK and Nordic countries.
Aqua Comms CCO Chris Bayly commented: “The addition of these two new regional systems marks an important milestone for Aqua Comms. By connecting Ireland, the UK and the Nordics, Aqua Comms brings its industry-leading connectivity services to these key growth markets while expanding its transatlantic footprint and connectivity between the US and Europe.”
Bayly added: “This is a testament to our continued investment in serving underserved markets and I look forward to continuing this positive trend with the launch of AEC-3 and EMIC-1.”
